In the return semifinal match at Estádio da Luz, Benfica showed its muscles but, in the end, it was Sporting Clube de Portugal that advanced and reached the Jamor final after an amazing game

The Lisbon derby played at the Estádio da Luz between Benfica and Sporting Lisbon that put the Taça de Portugal Placard final up for grabs, gave the many fans who flocked to the stadium a thrilling show.

Sporting drew (2-2) at the Estádio da Luz with Benfica, secured a place in the Taça de Portugal Placard final. Rúben Amorim’s Lions had won in the first leg of the semifinals played at the Estádio José Alvalade (2-1) and now await the other finalist between Futebol Clube do Porto and Vitória Guimarães.

The goals of the match were scored by Hjulmand, Otamendi, Paulinho and Rafa Silva. In the last few minutes of the game, Sporting’s Uruguayan goalkeeper Franco Israel performed a miracle on di Ángel Di María.

With a 4-3 result, Sporting Clube de Portugal – which has already won the competition 17 times – reached the final.
